Memorable Sporting Moment: 1990 FIFA World Cup

I’ve been with the Herts Sports Partnership since September 2005 during which time I’ve been able to get involved in a wide-range of initiatives and projects.  Mine is a challenging role in which I’m always adapting to the changing priorities and requirements of the organisation.

My family history reflects a famous sporting tradition… Andy Sandham once held the world Test record, making the first Test triple-century when he was in his 40th year (Google it, it’s all there), and my grandfather was a pretty useful fly-weight boxer in his time.  Unfortunately this famous tradition died in 1979.

My favourite sport is football, which makes me incredibly interesting, way beyond your normal expectations in fact; I’ve actually taken an MSc on the subject.  ‘There’s an MSc in football?’ I hear you cry.  Well, not exactly, it’s more the business of football and sports management, which actually makes me rather well equipped for my role here.  I’ve always had an interest in sport on every level and if someone had told me I’d get a job in sports when I was drinking 20 pints a night at Leeds University, I would’ve laughed at them, and yet here I am, a lot slimmer and wiser, drinking considerably less and working in sport.
