... is over!!
Our second annual Coach Education Week ended on 20 February. And what a week it was! We had award courses for coaches in triathlon, basketball, dodgeball, lacrosse, rugby, futsal and street dance. There were sessions for coaches in netball, volleyball, cricket, squash and table tennis. Workshops on first aid, safeguarding, nutrition, behaviour management and strength and conditioning ran throughout the week. And we had talks from Brendan Venter (head coach at Saracens) and about Clive Woodward and Alex Ferguson. To see what you missed, you can download a full brochure HERE.
On 21 February, we held our 3rd Coaching Conference. Sir Ian McGeechan gave the opening address on his approach to coaching the British and Irish Lions. Another lad from Leeds, Terry Denison, got the afternoon sessions under way with his reflections based on a lifetime of swimming coaching. Maggie Jackson (lead coach with the Mavericks netball team) and Martin Andrew (badminton) were among the international line-up of contributors to the Conference. Again, you can look at the full Conference programme by clicking here.
Feedback
We would like to get your feedback on both Coach Education Week and the Coaching Conference. We will shortly set up an online survey that you can complete - everyone that does so will be entered into a draw for sports kit!
We hope you enjoyed Coach Education Week - the planning starts now for next year!!
