Coaching Herts is a website for coaches across Hertfordshire. In addition to being a source of information for coaches, it is also the portal to our coaching database and the starting point for the CoachMark scheme. If you are a sports coach looking for a course or employment opportunities, or if you are an employer trying to find the right coach, then Coaching Herts is the right place to be...
Who is Coaching Herts for?
- Coaches looking for qualifications, training opportunities or employment
- Coaches who want to be informed about local events and developments in coaching
- Organisations looking for a CoachMark coach
- Organisations looking to develop their own coaches
If you're already a member of the Coaching Herts database, just click through to the Coaching Herts website and log in to access your profile. If you are new to Coaching Herts and want to sign up, go to the website, scroll down and click the big blue 'Register as a Coach' button. Here are some guidelines to help you through the process of registering on the database.
Coaching Herts - guidelines
First, don’t panic! The Coaching Herts database holds a lot of information and there are a lot of data fields with asterisks on them, implying that you must fill them in to register. However, you may not need to complete all of the data fields. Two points to remember:
- The amount of information you enter depends on what you want from the database.
- You can always go back to add more information in your own time.
Distribution list
If you simply want updates on coaching events (workshops, Coach Education Week, etc.) or coaching news (for instance, updates from sports coach UK), we only need some basic information:
• Contact Information: Name, address, email address and telephone number
• Personal Details: Date of Birth, Gender, Ethnicity
• Paid & Unpaid Work: who you coach for (e.g. club, school) and your role (e.g. head coach) – there are two boxes in which you need to enter this information
• Qualifications: we’d simply like to know what sport(s) you are qualified to coach in, and what level of qualification you’ve got.
Of course, we’d welcome more information about you, but that’s all that we need to be able to include you in mailouts, etc.
CoachMark
If you want to coach in schools in Hertfordshire you should register with CoachMark, a scheme developed jointly by Herts Sports Partnership and Hertfordshire County Council. Meeting CoachMark’s requirements shows that you meet minimum standards for coaching and helps to ensure the safety of the children that you coach.
To become a CoachMark coach, we need to check that you do meet the required standard. You can provide most of this information by completing the ‘Qualifications Held’ section on the database. Here is the information that we need:
• Appropriate coaching qualifications
• CRB registration
• Appropriate liability insurance
• Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate
• Commitment to a code of conduct
Finally, in the ‘References’ section, you need to provide two references.
That’s all, folks!
You don’t need to complete any more than that. However, you can use the Coaching Herts database much more if you wish:
• to develop your cv – keep a record of your coaching sessions, log the CPD workshops that you attend, etc.
• to help match you to coaching opportunities, for instance by telling us how much coaching you would like to do and where
• to tell us what training you need - that will help us to develop our programme of workshops and courses
