Minimum Standards for Deployment

sports coach UK have published Minimum Standards for Deployment for sports coaches, for use by organisations that employ, deploy and develop coaches. Herts Sports Partnership endorses these standards - we have included them in the CoachMark scheme for coaches operating in a school environment.

Core standards

The recommended core standards apply to all coaches:

Minimum age

• Lead coach or independent deliverer: 18+ years
• Assistant coach: 16+ years

Appropriate qualifications

• Lead coach or independent deliverer: UKCC Level 2 or above
• Assistant coach: UKCC Level 1

Appropriate insurance

• An insurance policy that covers the coach for the duties to be undertaken

Enhanced CRB check

• A CRB check should be carried out by the employer in respect to the duties to be undertaken by the coach.

Agreed code of conduct

• Commitment to a code of conduct identifying areas of best practice

Equity in Your Coaching
How to Coach Disabled People in Sport

Of these, we have included Safeguarding and Protecting Children in the CoachMark scheme. This reflects the school environment that the coaches covered by CoachMark will be operating in.
