Herts Sports Clubs for people with disabilities
Within Hertfordshire there are dozens of fantastic opportunities for people with all kinds of disabilities to get involved in all kinds of sport, from football or tennis to swimming or archery... There's something for everybody!
To ensure that everybody gets the most out of their sporting experience, the Herts Sports Partnership are working together with our partners to audit all the sports clubs in the county that claim to provide for people with disabilities.

Football Training for Disabled People
There are plenty of football clubs within Hertfordshire that put sessions on for people with a range of disabilities to train and get the same enjoyment out of football that everybody else does!

Funding for Athletes with a Disability
Grants of between £250 and £500 are on offer from the leading disability charity Papworth Trust. A total of £2,000 will be available in 2010/2011 and a further £2,000 in 2011/2012. Athletes aged 12 or over with a disability can apply for an award. If you would like to apply for a grant, the application form can be downloaded from their website at www.papworth.org.uk

Mencap Sport's British Learning Disability Swimming Championships, 10th July 2010
Following the success of previous championships, this championship will be taking place on Saturday 10th July. Swimmers may take part if they meet the learning disability eligibility criteria.

Disability Football Festival, Sunday 25th June 2010
St Albans Youth is teaming up with the Herts Sports Partnership to put on a football festival for Pan Disability players ages 15 and over. It is open to new teams, Novice (League) and Intermediate (Championship) Standard as well as those disability teams that just play friendly matches.

Marion Smith Netball Training
Hertfordshire Netball Association is working in partnership with the Herts Sports Partnership and Mencap to provide netball training between March and June to enter a team from Hertfordshire into England Netball's Marion Smith Disability Championship

Out and about is a charity offering disabled people between the ages of 5 and 25 to participate in leisure activities with the guidance of trained volunteers and support workers.
