Hertfordshire Community Foundation exists to tackle deprivation in Hertfordshire and beyond. It is currently the largest non-statutory grant giver into the county and in the year 2008/09:
• awarded more than £1 million in grants to charities and community groups
• touched the lives of 93,665 people - nearly one in ten of the population of the county!
The Foundation manages:
• Foundation Grants – individual grants (for children), small and project grants
• Grassroots Small Grants - nearly £1.2 million is available through this programme to support and develop local voluntary and community groups in Hertfordshire up until March 2011. The Grassroots grants initiative is a key element of the Government’s strategy for building stronger and more active communities in England and is funded by the Office of the Third Sector.
