herts is ready for winners

Herts Sports Partnership is working with key partners to set up a support scheme for talented athletes. This is an additional source of funding and support services which the young talented athletes of Hertfordshire can apply for to assist them to progress in their chosen sport.

We want to give every young talented athlete in Herts an equal chance to reach their full potential in their chosen sport by offering bursaries towards training costs.

The scheme, ‘Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners SportsAid’ was launched at the Herts Service to Sport Awards in April 2007.  It focuses on athletes starting out on their sporting career – they have to show sporting talent, potential and a will to succeed.

• The average 12-16 year old talented athlete spends c£5,000 on travel, accommodation, competition fees and kit
• Expenses are generally borne by the parents of the young athlete. 
• Support rarely reaches this level for individual athletes
• Young talent needs help and recognition - Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners SportsAid provides both.

We are looking for small and medium businesses who may wish to sponsor the scheme, and also local authorities who do not currently fund talented athletes who wish to get involved.
