London 2012

“A Games for the youth of the world”

London 2012 Games Chair, Sebastian Coe, has confirmed its vision "to stage inspirational Games that capture the imagination of young people around the world and leave a lasting legacy”

With the 2012 London Olympics to be on Hertfordshire’s doorstep, the county is gearing up for the benefits and opportunities that the games will bring.

Not only will Hertfordshire host the white water canoe slalom at Broxbourne, but the Olympics will offer a vast array of opportunity to residents, businesses, visitors and the whole community.

The event could see Hertfordshire’s population of visitors snowball dramatically for the duration of the Games, provide openings for volunteers and offer a legacy of tourism, facilities and jobs.

A partnership has been set up to look at all possibilities.  It includes the County Council, Herts Chamber of Commerce, Lee Valley Park Authority, Herts Association of Cultural Officers, Herts Sports Partnership and Sport England.  Details of the work being undertaken by this partnership can be found on their website:  http://readyforwinners.hertscc.gov.uk/
