Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary during the 2017/18 season and to celebrate this milestone achievement, they will be producing a special commemorative book, holding an exhibition at Watford museum and creating a new interactive website. This will be made possible thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Trust is the charitable arm of the football club with the mission to make a positive difference for all through sport and learning.
The Trust is appealing to the people of Watford who have benefited from their work over the past 25 years to share their experiences. They are looking for people who have attended or taken part in the many different courses offered from 1992 onwards, ranging from Kicks and Player Development Centres, Watford Works, National Citizen Service or Shape up. These are just a small selection of the different courses run by the Trust.
An example of the success and impact of the Trust is evident with one of their supporters. Andy Smith has gone from being a match day mascot in 1986, to fundraiser in 2013 and now helping as a 25th Anniversary volunteer in 2017
An Information Gathering event will be held at Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday 22 April from 11.00am to 15.00pm and the Trust is asking people to come in to be interviewed about their experiences and to bring in copies of old press clippings, photos and any memorabilia which can be scanned and included in the book or museum exhibition.
For every item of memorabilia brought along on the day, the owner will be entered into a raffle to win a signed Watford FC shirt.
