Sports coaches from across the county will have the chance to buff up their coaching credentials at Herts Sports Partnership's second annual Coach Education Week 13th- 20th February.
Coaching courses covering a huge range of sports (including swimming, football, rugby, badminton, lacrosse, netball, cricket, squash and basketball) are on offer, as well as coaching in newer activities including dodgeball, street dance and even rockitball.
90 workshops taking place over the week will give coaches, from novice to elite level, the chance to gain coaching qualifications and enhance skills through interactive workshops, lectures and practical sessions.
John O’Callaghan, Club Coach & Sports Development Manager from Herts Sports Partnership said: “This year’s Coach Education Week has built on the huge success of last year’s event and the programme is even bigger and better, with over 1700 places on 90 coaching courses. The courses are open to everyone with an interest in sport, from those just interested in finding out about the opportunities to coach a sport, to those who want to take the next step in their coaching qualifications.”
He added: “As well as covering a diverse range of sports and activities, the courses cover junior, adult and disability coaching at all levels. We also recognise that coach education costs can be expensive for voluntary sports clubs, which is why we have kept the course costs to an absolute minimum.”
Grahame Bowles, Chairman of Herts Sports Partnership said: “It’s now less than 1,000 days until the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. A key legacy of the Games will be to inspire more people to take part in sport and this can be achieved if we have more well qualified coaches. This week’s programme is part of our contribution to that effort, and I hope that all involved will have a hugely enjoyable and beneficial experience.”
