Sports Clubs Can Now Raise Money on ‘Just Giving’ Website

A new campaign to help community sports clubs has been given the thumbs up by Herts Sports Partnership. The initiative called JustGiving for Sports Clubs, put in place by Sport England, is expected to bring an extra £22 million into grassroots sport over the next five years by making online fundraising easier.

The project is expected to make it easier for small community sport clubs to raise funds for new equipment, coaching and capital projects. It will also make it much easier for clubs to claim gift aid on donations made online, ensuring that clubs get 28p from the Government for every £1 donated. Currently only one in ten Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC) take advantage of gift aid, meaning that they are missing out on vital money.

John O’Callaghan, Club, Coach and Sports Development Manager from Herts Sports Partnership said: “For most clubs fundraising is one of their highest priorities and now community sports clubs in Hertfordshire will be able to tap into one of the most powerful fundraising tools available.”

He added: “As if this wasn’t enough of incentive for clubs to embrace internet based fundraising, JustGiving, the organisation who run the website have dropped their £180 per year fee. So I would urge all eligible clubs in Hertfordshire to sign up today.”
