With a few weeks to go until nominations for the Herts Sports Partnership Service to Sport Awards close on 31st July, organisers are urging local people to put forward their sporting superheroes.
The prestigious awards, which celebrate the hard work put into community sport by volunteers of all ages across the county, cover nine categories: Community coach of the year (male), Community Coach of the Year (female), Community Club of the Year,
Best Newcomer Club, The Paul Pearce Award for Contribution to Disability Sport, Community Volunteer of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year (under 18), Sports Personality of the Year (over 18) and the Service to Sport Award 2010.
Jane Shewring, Herts Sports Partnership’s Business Development Manager said: “Anyone can nominate a sports volunteer for one of the categories. It’s a great way of recognising the hard work and effort that people put into community sport. So many people are involved in making sport happen, those who organise fixtures, manage the club website, look after finances, wash kits, look after the club grounds, even those who organise refreshments and fund-raising events. This is your chance to say “thank you””.
All nominees are invited to the Service to Sport Awards, a glittering evening hosted by BBC Radio Five Live presenter David Croft, and hosted by the University of Hertfordshire at its Hatfield campus.
Nominations can either be made online at: www.sportinherts.org.uk/servicetosportawards2010 or by contacting Herts Sports Partnership on 01707 281005 for a nomination form.
