With the golfing world gearing up for The Masters as Augusta next month, Stevenage FC Foundation have announced the return of their annual golf day in partnership with Stevenage Leisure Limited (SLL) on Wednesday 3rd May 2017.
The fundraiser is being supported by Stevenage FC players and staff who will be involved in the day towards the end of a fantastic season.
With 54 spaces available to the general public, businesses or other organisations. Entries can be made as individuals or in teams of three for just £40 per player which will include breakfast on arrival at 11am and a hot buffet after the round where the SFC Foundation Golf Day Trophy will be presented to the winners.
Last year the winners on the day were a Boro fans team (pictured above) made up of Colin Windmill and brothers Mark & Jack Slater, who have already signed up again to try to retain their trophy.
Speaking after last year’s event, goalkeeper Jamie Jones said, “It was a great day. We got the chance to meet some fans and we all go on really well – everybody enjoyed themselves. Raising money for the Foundation is the icing on the cake.”
Head of Foundation, Joe Goude is hoping the event can become a regular feature in the local calendar “Last year the golf day was a tremendous success and raised over £1,000 to support the work the Foundation staff are doing week in week out. It’s a great opportunity to mix the football club staff with fans, local businesses and other partners.
“It is great to have the support of SLL again in hosting the event locally in Stevenage, as well the football club staff and players who are always supportive of the work we are doing in the local community. We’re hoping other local businesses will get involved either as players or through one of the sponsorship opportunities on the day.
“Each year we’re trying to make the golf day a better event and hope the additions this year will make it a fantastic day for anyone that is involved”.
