Is this course for me?

This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to work as a personal trainer. It may also be of interest to anyone working in physiotherapy, coaching or fitness.


What qualifications or skills will I need to have to get on the courses?

Candidates should have completed a level II fitness instructor qualification prior to being accepted on this course.

 
What does the course involve?

The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework. Candidates will develop existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction to enable them to plan and instruct progressive programmes of exercise and nutritional advice specific to a client’s goals and needs, having carried out a comprehensive fitness and lifestyle assessment. They will also learn how to set themselves up as a personal trainer on a self-employed business basis.


What options will be open to me if I successfully complete the course?

Once completed this course provides access onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level III. Successful candidates may then apply to health clubs or sports teams or may wish to set up their on private practice.
